Subject: senior center proposal

hi.
please allow me to comment on the proposal that would relocate the
senior center up to the intermediate school.  i have heard from some
seniors that that are not excited about being in an area (even if they
have their own space) which is populated by kids.
       has anyone asked the seniors?
i assume that you have considered a new  stand-alone facility
that would represent a forward-thinking approach, and would serve the
growing population of seniors in the years to come.  perhaps it could be
bonded at low interest rates, and be a showpiece for the community.
       just my two cents.

Subject: FW: Proposed new senior center

Joe,

FYI on the below e-mail. I also received this comment via Facebook:

re: WJJMS renovation - instead of a cafe, hair salon, and library (all
in place elsewhere in town), why not put in a public pool with a water
fitness instructor for the seniors?

Thanks,

Gregg

Subject: Proposed new senior center

The existing senior center serves as the home of 6-8 veterans groups and
is the center for veterans programs in Colchester.  However, the
recently issued informational brochure does not mention the veterans
groups or services or as being part of the future facilities or program
at the proposed new senior center.  The overwhelming majority of the
members of the veterans groups are senior citizens and we are concerned
that we are being forgotten as this proposal moves forward.

What steps are being taken to insure that Colchester veterans groups,
which have a membership of over 400 residents, are being actively
considered as part of the planning for this future facility?
