September 5, 2018 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Warren Doty at 12:03 p.m.

- Approval of Meeting Minutes
Committee Member Jim Newman motioned to approve the July 11th, 2018 meeting minutes as written. Committee member Cynthia Mitchell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Chief Retmier shared that the new ambulance is working well and is housed in the Aquinnah Station.
Committee Chair Warren Doty raised discussion on the fiscal year budget surplus of approximately $90,000.00. Chief Retmier offered that he had been instructed by the committee to spend conservatively in order to cover the retirement deficit. Chief Retmier also shared that between the fiscal year 18 surplus and fiscal year 17 surplus that there may be enough to cover the past two fiscal years overages.

Chief Retmier shared that from June 5th to September 5th, Tri-Town Ambulance had a total of 155 incidents. Last year for this same period, Tri-Town had 175 incidents.
The year to date total thus far for 2018 is 273. The year to date total for the same time period in 2017 was 317.
Chief Retmier shared that in June there was some difficulty to get Tri-Town fully staffed and that Island wide, more EMT’s are needed.
At the recent QAQI meeting with Dr. Karen Casper, Chief Retmier shared that she was pleased with how the season went.
Chief Retmier advised the committee that the staff has expressed concerns about the stations including a mouse infestation in Aquinnah. Chief Bollin and Chief Belain are aware of this. The staff is also wondering about the status of Tri-Town having a new station.
Committee Chair Warren Doty offered that progress is slow, however he hopes to make a proposal to the Conservation Commission in September. Committee Chair Warren Doty also shared that there is some opposition to the location of town hall being used for the Tri-Town location.
Committee Chair and Chief Retmier agreed that this should an agenda item for the September 18th meeting.
Administrative Assistant Allison Graczykowski shared that collections continue to go well.
The next meeting will be held on October 3, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the West Tisbury Fire Station on State Road, West Tisbury.
Committee member Jim Newman motioned to adjourn the meeting at 12:32pm and Committee member Cynthia Mitchell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
