March 7, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Approved by the Committee April 11, 2018

The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Warren Doty at 12:03 p.m.

  • Approval of February 7th, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Committee Member Jim Newman motioned to approve the February 7th, 2018 meeting minutes as written. Committee Member Cynthia Mitchell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

  • Old Business
None.

  • New Business
Chief Retmier shared that the new ambulance has arrived and that he is pleased with Bull Dog Fire and Apparatus. Delivery of the new ambulance was on February 21st. The invoice was just over $162,000.00 and has been paid in full. The stretcher for Whiskey-90 will be paid for out of that same warrant article.








  • TTA Chief report
  • Three Month Review
Chief Retmier shared that from December 7th to March 7th Tri-Town Ambulance        had a total of 57 calls. Last year for this same period, Tri-Town had 61 calls.
The year to date total thus far for 2018 is 38. The year to date total for the same time period in 2017 was 40.


  • Group 1V Retirement
Chief Retmier advised the committee that a formal vote was needed to approve full time staff be moved to Group IV retirement effective July 1, 2018. Committee member Cynthia Mitchell motioned to approve the transition to Group IV and Committee Member Jim Newman seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.



  • Professional Development -Tribe

Chief Retmier explained to the Committee that he’d like to have a formal agreement regarding tuition reimbursement for Tribal members, that the committee approves of.

After a detailed discussion between Chief Retmier and the Committee, it was determined that Tri-Town Ambulance will continue to honor the agreement with Tribe to pay full tuition for any tribe member that wishes to become an EMT for the next five years.

Committee Member Cynthia Mitchell motioned to approve this agreement, and Committee Member Jim Newman seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.





  • Chilmark – Summer Season
Chief Retmier shared that this particular subject stems from the recent articles in the   newspaper regarding the asbestos issue. Chief Retmier shared that he attended the Chilmark board of selectmen’s meeting the prior evening at which time they reviewed the formal asbestos report.

Committee Chair Warren Doty states that he’ll volunteer to meet with TTA staff and go through the report and the bay to ensure that everyone feels comfortable that there is no health hazard.

Chief Retmier also shared that the Tri-Town Ambulance staff is concerned about being located at the Chilmark Station during the summer due to lack of adequate facilities.

Warren Doty states that these are reasonable concerns from the staff and he in   conjunction with Chief Retmier will look at other possibilities.



        
  • Comstar Update
Administrative Assistant Allison Graczykowski shared that collections continue to go well.


  • Next Meeting Date
The next meeting will be held on April 11, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the West Tisbury Fire Station on State Road, West Tisbury.


  • Adjournment
Committee member Jim Newman motioned to adjourn the meeting at 12:36pm and Committee Chair Warren Doty seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
