February 7, 2018 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Warren Doty at 12:00 p.m.

In attendance

  • Approval of January 10, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Committee Member Jim Newman motioned to pass January 10, 2017 meeting minutes as written. Committee Chair Warren Doty seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

  • Old Business
Committee Chair Warren Doty shared that Chilmark may need to request an override unless approximately $95,000.00 can be cut out of all the proposed budgets.  A discussion ensued reviewing the TTA fiscal year 19 budget that was previously approved.

  • TTA Chief report
  • Three Month Review
Chief Retmier shared that from November 7th to February 7th Tri-Town Ambulance had a total of 63 calls. Last year for this same period, Tri-Town had 70 calls.
The year to date total thus far for 2018 is 21. The year to date total for the same time period in 2017 was 25.

Chief Retmier shared with the Committee and audience what services are in place for employees who have had a difficult/traumatic call.


  • Building Committee Updates
Committee Chair Warren Doty shared that Chilmark is contracted with Pacheco Ross to do a feasibility study for a combined EMS/Fire building. A combined building has the support of the Chilmark Fire Department and Board of Selectmen. Committee Chair Warren Doty anticipates that the feasibility study will be completed within approximately two weeks.

Warren also offered that a new committee needs to be formed, perhaps 5-7 members to begin working on what the building looks like.  A project manager and architect will also be needed. In response to an audience question, Committee Chair Warren Doty shared that they may be able to have a special town meeting this spring to rule on the firehouse proposal. This would be to gain approval of the site and the feasibility plan and to move ahead with hiring project manager and architect. Warren also offered that it is the committee’s intention to have approval in order to move forward this spring.

  • New Ambulance Update
Chief Retmier shared that the new ambulance delivery is 30-45 days away and that BullDog has submitted an invoice for the ambulance.


  • Tribe Casino – Services Update
Chief Bollin, Chief Belain and Chief Retmier all agreed that they would wait to hear from the Tribe regarding emergency services.               

        
  • Comstar Update
Administrative Assistant Allison Graczykowski shared that collections continue to go well.


  • Next Meeting Date
The next meeting will be held on March 7, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the West Tisbury Fire Station on State Road, West Tisbury.

  • Adjournment
Committee member Jim Newman motioned to adjourn the meeting at 12:48pm and Committee Chair Warren Doty seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
