  • Compensation Study/Retroactive Pay
Committee Chair Warren Doty and Committee Member Cynthia Mitchell along with Chief Retmier discussed the Compensation study and how it impacts the fiscal year 2018 Tri-Town Ambulance Budget.

Committee Chair, Warren Doty offered that when the compensation plan was delayed, that a promise was made to the employees to have the new pay scale paid retroactive to the beginning of the fiscal year, if approved at town vote. Warren Doty also shared that the pay scale has been approved by the Board of Selectmen.

What this means is that for fiscal year 2018, $31,000.00 more will be paid to Tri-Town Ambulance employees. This includes retro pay increase plus new salary.

After a conversation regarding sources of funds, such as the Capital Account and surplus revenue from fiscal year 2017, Committee Chair Warren Doty, and Committee Member Cynthia Mitchell agree that they do not wish to move money from capital account, nor does the committee wish to go to town meetings to request additional funds.

Warren Doty states that the TTA agreement does not state that surplus funds have to be returned to the towns. The idea of having a surplus is not addressed in the agreement, and therefore, it may a viable option.

The Committee also agrees that before any decision is made on funding the retro increase, that Chief Retmier in conjunction with the accountant will need to have an accurate review of the 2018 budget to see where we stand after the first quarter, and if there is potential for surplus funds at the end of this fiscal year.

Committee member Cynthia Mitchell motioned to adjourn and Committee Chair Warren Doty seconded the motion.

Meeting adjourned at 12:25 pm.
