Minutes of December 16, 2014 approved as amended.
Squibnocket Committee Hearing:  The Committee expressed satisfaction at the significant turnout of Town residents at the public hearing held on December 18, 2014 to discuss the Committee’s recommendations, and welcomed the active audience participation at the hearing.  Jim Malkin noted that there had appeared to be some confusion over the Committee’s recommendation vs. the “other option”, and the Committee will seek to clarify these in the Town Meeting.  After discussion, the Committee decided it will refer to the low causeway as its “recommended solution”.
Special Town Meeting:  Jim Malkin informed the Committee that, if the Committee can forward its recommendation to the Board of Selectmen today, it will be possible to call the Special Town Meeting for February 2nd, instead of February 9th, leaving the maximum amount of time between the Special and Annual Town Meetings to achieve the agreements and other preparations needed to implement a solution at Squibnocket.  Jane Slater reported to the Committee that the CPC has published an outline to guide formulation of warrant articles requesting CPC funding.  Dan Greenbaum pointed out that, even with a slightly earlier STM, the timeline is still very tight for accomplishing required construction in time to take advantage of the grant funding available to the Town. Alison Burger asked about the format of the recommendation, and whether the power point would be used—Jim Malkin suggested adapting the slides presenting the recommended solution.
Questions from the audience asked for clarification on what would be included in the removal of the revetments, which are a number of different structures and fragments thereof.  Jim Malkin clarified that the intent is to remove the man-made structures that were put in place to affect the ocean’s impact on the shoreline.
There will be a presentation/explanation for voters at the Town Meeting in February, and the Committee decided to meet on Tuesday, January 27th to prepare for the Town Meeting.  Beyond that, Jim Malkin declared that the Committee has finished with its work.
The next meeting of the Committee will be on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 8am.
The meeting adjourned at 08:25.
Adopted Feb 2, 2015.
