Selectmen's Meeting Minutes 10/31/18
Chilmark Selectmen   October31, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Present: Warren Doty, Bill Rossi. Chairman Jim Malkin was not present.
Tim Carroll, Susan Stevens, Eric Peters and news reporters Landry Harlan and Rich Saltzberg and videographer from MVTV.  

At 4:45 PM Warren Doty called meeting to order in the Selectmen’s meeting room.

Chilmark School:
Chilmark School Principal Susan Stevens asked if the Selectmen have had the opportunity to see the new playground. Principal Stevens showed pictures of the new Chilmark Playground. Principal Stevens thanked the Selectmen for the support that the school received in getting this project completed. Mr. Doty said it was a group effort but great amount of work was done by Tim Carroll and Ellen Biskis along with community volunteers and Chilmark PTO.  Mr. Rossi said the CPC funds were also a big help in getting this project finished. Principal Stevens said funds also came from the Chilmark Community Center, the Chilmark Preschool and Aquinnah CPC and from a mailing asking for contributions.

Principal Stevens said we have a Chilmark School Advisory Council and we are looking for 1 to 2 community members. Principal Stevens said she came tonight to ask if the Selectmen would recommend some community members. Principal Stevens said we meet usually in the morning from 8:00 AM -9:00 AM the day of the week has yet to be set we are willing to see what works for new members.  

Principal Stevens said that the School children are collecting for Water for Sudan this Halloween and recommended supporting their efforts. Principal Stevens recommended asking the student something about the project when they donate.

Vineyard Open Land Foundation (VOLF) - Chilmark Lease:
Mr. Doty said we are here to finalize the license agreement between the Town of Chilmark and Vineyard Open Land Foundation related to the Squibnocket Pond boat launch area. Mr. Doty said town counsel has prepared this license agreement. Mr. Peters from VOLF reviewed the license agreement and is satisfied with it. Mr. Rossi moved to accept this license agreement between Chilmark and the Vineyard Open Land Foundation and to sign it. Mr. Doty seconded the motion. SO VOTED: 2 Ayes, 1 not present
License Agreement was signed by Selectmen and Mr. Peters

At 4:54 PM with no further items for discussion. Mr. Rossi moved to adjourn. Mr. Doty seconded the motion. SO VOTED: 2 Ayes, 1 not present
