Chilmark Board of Selectmen March 12, 2013 Meeting Minutes
Present: Chairman Jonathan Mayhew, Warren Doty, Tim Carroll, Brian Cioffi, Isaiah Scheffer and Remy Tumin.
At 5:00 pm Chairman Mayhew called meeting to order in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.
Shellfish Department:
Chilmark Shellfish Constable Scheffer was present to request that the Selectmen open the commercial oyster season March18, 2013. Mr. Scheffer proposes the season to open March 18th till April 30, 2013 just three days per week; Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The limit per day is 2 heaping bushels. Constable Scheffer also recommended that the Selectmen extend the scallop season another 30 days.
Mr. Doty moved to open Commercial Oyster Season and extend scallop season as proposed by Shellfish Constable Scheffer. Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion. SO VOTED: 2 Ayes
Cable TV Update:
Tim Carroll spoke of the side letter referring to Middle Line Road in the Cable Contract with Comcast. The Town would pay $16,942.44 and it would come out of the capital cost of $500,000.00 in the new contract. Mr. Doty moved to approve this plan. Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion. SO VOTED: 2 Ayes
Harbor Advertisement:
Tim Carroll said that the Harbor Department would like to have positions advertised for the coming season. Mr. Carroll asked for the Selectmen to confirm the advertisement as 1 Assistant Harbormaster at 40 hours and 1 at 30 hours, and 2 wharfingers at 40 hours a week.
Mr. Doty said that he would like to include Mr. Rossi in discussing the harbor positions advertisements.
FEMA:
Tim Carroll said he spoke to FEMA representatives and has applied for approximately
$ 400,000.00 to apply to the revetment repairs to Squibnocket this 75% of cost to repairs. Jay Walsh has asked that the Selectmen have the revetment repairs to Squibnocket on the agenda tonight. Mr. Doty and Chairman Mayhew said they would hear his concerns March 22, 2013 at 5:00 pm when Mr. Rossi is available.
Mr. Carroll asked if the Selectmen will roll call vote to move into executive session and to return to regular meeting to sign contract. The agenda for the Executive Session is to discuss labor contract of Police Chief Cioffi. Doty: Aye, Mayhew: Aye.
At regular session Mr. Doty moved to sign contract Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion.
