Chilmark Board of Selectmen Minutes January 30th 2006

People in attendance: Frank M. Fenner, Jr., J. B. Riggs Parker, Warren M. Doty, Tim Carroll, Kevin & Barbara Conroy, Dennis Jason, Chuck Hodgkinson.
1:03 p.m. meeting called to order by Mr. Fenner Conference Room 1, Town Hall.
Menemsha Harbor- Commercial Fish Buyer
Mr. Conroy explained his background in fish buying and how he owns a home in Menemsha. He and his wife said it was possible that they could work out a business plan to purchase local seafood with the intention of shipping it back to Connecticut branded as “Direct From the Vineyard” at a 5% premium to help pay for the handling.
Various challenges were discussed including transportation, infrastructure, town participation and the need for a building of some sort on the harbor. The town agreed to provide a list of all fishermen to the Conroys and they said they would develop a business plan. The group agreed to a March 1st deadline for the next meeting.
Mr. Fenner left at 2:30 PM. The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 PM.
