Meeting called to order at 3:04PM:
- Menemsha Master Plan: Max King’s VTA Bus #12 Map DRAFT #2, Discussion:
- The subcommittee reviewed the second draft of Max King’s map. Their comments were:
- All three STOP signs should be eliminated
- Create smaller icon for the sculpture. Eliminate the one large fish icon and replace with a smaller fish and the words CHARTER BOATS
- In addition, small fish icons and the words CHARTER BOATS need to be placed along the area south of the Coast Guard bldg., in the channel water, to show charter boats that are docked there.
- Use the bus icons on the inset map as opposed to just the numbers, just as the bus icons are used in the larger map.
- Change the words ‘bank’, on the larger map, to ATM using the same icon as the VTA uses and eliminate the second bank location by the police station as it does not exist any longer.
- It was noted the words ‘POST OFFICE’ and ‘COMMUNITY CENTER’ should be on two parallel lines.
- Replace the word MARKET with GENERAL STORE and place those two words on two parallel lines on both the large and small maps.
- It was noted that the bike ferry needs to be included. It was noted that the words BIKE FERRY should be included with a dotted line to AQ and a bike/ferry icon included.
- Replace the “shop” icon with an icon that is simpler.
- Create a clearer depiction of the six shops and one cafe along Basin Road. It was suggested that there be three separate blocks and then a long one and a last separate block for the café that is the fork and knife icon. The first three blocks on Basin Road need to be closer to the intersection of Basin Rd. and North Rd., the fork and knife icon needs to be closer to the corner.
- Try to make the hand-drawn parking lot lines a little less wiggley.
- Change the road name to Tabor House Road rather than ’Tabor House’.
- Include an umbrella icon on the public beach with the lettering of PUBLIC BEACH.
- Make the lettering print on the maps smaller so that it is consistent with the size of PUBLIC BEACH lettering, with the exception of the VTA park & ride.
- It was noted that the icons from The Bite to the Comfort need to be organized to show the most reasonable progression.
- The words LIBRARY should be replaced with the standard Library icon.
- Eliminate the FIRE DEPT. lettering and replace with a fire station icon. Do the same for the Police Station and the Post Office, if possible.
- Fix the double image of the gas pump near the parking lot.
- Create a graphic way to make obvious that the Menemsha Village inset map is a blow up of the Menemsha Village on the large map.
- The minutes from May 22, 2017 were reviewed and approved with changes.
