CHILMARK LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING
July 18, 2011
Present: Trustees Norman Freed and Janet Weidner; Library Director Ebba Hierta.
Meeting called to order at 8:41 AM. Minutes of the June 2011 meeting approved with modifications.
Program Report: There is a “flash mob” planned in August at the Chilmark Library. This will be a song and dance performance that will seem to be impromptu but will actually have been pre-planned, with performers distributed around the Library. It should be fun!
Financial Report: The Library is on track to finish FY2011 with small surpluses in Salaries and Expenses.
Old Business: Parking for programs at the Community Center continues to impact the Library’s parking spaces. There have been some improvements recently (e.g. participants in the morning yoga program are trying to park on the grass, and leave room for parents dropping off campers in the morning). We decided to recommend to the Town Affairs Council that staggering their summer programs, so that everyone isn’t looking for parking spots at the same time, might ease the situation.
New Business: The State used to pay for the expenses related to our participation in the inter-library loan program. The costs for this year were under $200. Ebba recommended to the Trustees that, for FY 2011, we pay for these costs out of our gift fund. In the future, we will include this expense in our budgets.
The Library Director’s evaluation is due. Ebba agreed to write up her part of her evaluation. The Trustees will then review and comment on it.
