CHILMARK LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING
January 19, 2010
Present: Trustees Jane Slater and Janet Weidner; Library Director Ebba Hierta; Librarian Kristin Maloney.
Meeting called to order at 9:08 AM. Minutes of the December meeting were approved.
Art Group: Artists for 2010 (with the exception of summer 2010 which is already full) continue to be scheduled. There are a few openings later in 2010. The school art program is next; the children’s works will be on display from mid-February through the end of March.
Building and Grounds: Nothing to report.
Program Group: Our “Chowder and a Movie” program and the Friday night movie program have both started up for the winter season and are going well.
Director’s Report: The library’s budget hearing with the Financial Committee will be on Wednesday, February 3rd.
New Business: We discussed the Library’s input into the annual Chilmark Town Report. We also discussed the proposed abolishment of the seasonal wage scale. These changes will not affect any of our current employees. Finally, Ebba told the Trustees that the FY2011 state aid numbers are in. The Chilmark Library will be receiving $2074 which is down from last year’s aid of $4600. Given the current state of the economy, the decrease in aid is not surprising.
