Town Accountant presented to the Housing Committee accounts activity details for Middle Line Road rental income. A yearly review of MLR accounts was added to the Chilmark Housing Committee calendar.
Minutes from April 5, 2016 meeting were approved, as amended.
Committee reviewed, discussed and suggested edits to the first draft HPP Executive Summary which strictly focuses on Affordable Housing at <80% Area Median Income and could be considered the “road map out of our housing crisis.” The first draft Executive Summary was edited to promote creating affordable rental opportunities over the next 10 years, a pragmatic goal that encourages growth without compromising the rural character of the town.
A consultant has been identified by the All-Island Planning Board Affordable Housing Subcommittee that would take each individual town’s HPP and mold it into an island-wide plan. An advantage of all-island multi-town coordination would be to seek state recognition as a regional AH effort. Chilmark has interest assisting Affordable Housing strategies island-wide.
The committee discussed investigating Nantucket Land Bank model.
