Call To Order
Andy Goldman, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 4:34 p.m.
Meeting Minutes
Review of the July 2, 2008 meeting minutes was postponed until the next meeting because of lack of quorum.
New Housing Committee Member
Mr. Goldman welcomed Roland Kluver to the Housing Committee. The Committee is pleased to have Mr. Kluver as a member.
Middle Line Road Community Housing Program
Mr. Goldman informed the Committee that a meeting was held on July 14, 2008 to provide a briefing on the MLR Housing Program. Three potential developers attended the meeting; Island Housing Trust (Phillipe Jordi), Pope Industries (Doug Pope), and Holmes Hole Builders (Gary Maynard). The Request for Proposal (RFP) deadline is August 15, 2008.
Rental Support Program
The Committee discussed the Rental Support Program, which is an affordable housing program that supplements monthly rents using Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds. This program was established in 2002 and has been very successful. Currently, there are three families participating in the program, and at this current rate of usage, the existing funds in the budget for this program are projected to run out by June 2009, before the end of the fiscal year. The Housing Committee is requesting a CPA appropriation of $55,000 to replenish the Rental Support Program at the Special Town Meeting in September 2008.
With no further business to discuss, Andy Goldman adjourned the meeting at 5:35 p.m.
