Call To Order
Andy called the meeting to order at 4:32 p.m.
Meeting Minutes
A motion was made, seconded and all members voted to approve the meeting minutes of August 20, 2007 as submitted.
Homesite Housing Application
The committee discussed the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) request form. Christina distributed to the committee information she obtained from PersonNameTim Carroll. The information discussed CORI policy, CORI certification and agreement of non-disclosure statements. After a lengthy discussion, the committee agreed to have Christina contact Terry Keech at the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority (DCRHA) to inquire about the DCRHA CORI procedure. In addition, Christina will research the CORI procedures of other towns.
Bussink Subdivision: Homesite Lot (Map 7, placeLot 21)
Tim Lasker informed the committee of the latest developments with the Bussink property. Tim stated that Mr. McCarron, an attorney representing Bart Bussink, came before the Planning Board and said that Mr. Bussink had one buyer for the 21-acre parcel. Mr. McCarron further stated that the buyer does not want to subdivide the property, implying that the Homesite lot will not happen. Tim stated that the Planning Board is in the process of seeking legal opinion and the Board will keep the Housing Committee informed of the outcome.
Other Sources of Affordable Housing
The committee discussed the Engley House and Peaked Hill Property. The committee decided to discuss these properties at the all board meeting that will be scheduled in November.
Jim Feiner discussed a project that he is involved with regarding affordable housing. Jim, along with the other investors, is presently looking at purchasing the Vincent property, which is a 12.1-acre parcel located off addressStreetSouth Road. The intent of the investors is to purchase the property and create three 3-acre lots and three 1-acre lots, designating the
1-acre lots as Homesite housing lots. Jim will keep us informed of the developments.
Jim Feiner also discussed the Cagney property located on addressStreetTabor House Road, which is for sale. Perhaps the Town could purchase this property and provide affordable housing using this land. Jim will look into this suggestion.
Middle addressStreetLine Road Community Housing Program (MLR)
Andy informed the committee that the PersonNameBoard of Selectmen is still in negotiations with the property owners of the front lot. Once an agreement is reached, the Board of Selctmen can move forward and prepare the Middle Line Road Form C. Regarding the MLR legal documents, Andy stated that the meeting with the lawyers was very productive and final versions of all legal documents will be presented at the next meeting with the lawyers.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 5:33 p.m.
