Housing Committee Minutes
August 25, 2004
Meeting Started at 7:40 p.m. at the Chilmark Town Hall.
Present: Molly Flender-Chair Person, Thaw Malin, Jim Feiner, Josh Scott, Steve Schwab, Bill Randol, and Zee Gamson.
Present from the public: Jeff Day, Perry Ambulos, Dardanella Slavin, Michelle Mayhew, Greg Mayhew, Christopher Cini, and Heather Emin.
1. Minutes from August 12, 2004 reviewed and approved.
2. Island Housing Trust is looking for a representative from Chilmark. Perry Ambulos volunteered and the first meeting is on Saturday August 28, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. The meeting is to occur at the Co- Housing.
3. Committee and public were reminded of the September 9th, 2004 joint meeting of the Planning Board, Housing Committee, and the Selectmen. The purpose of the joint meeting is to finalize the Middle Road project.
There was a question of inviting John Abrams to facilitate the meeting from the housing committee point of view. There was mention of his unbiased ability to bid on future projects with in the Middle Road project. In favor of inviting him is his experience and knowledge of affordable housing. The intention of asking him is to be helpful to the affordable housing cause.
It was decided to not ask him so he will be able to bid on the projects in an unbiased forum.
4. The affordable housing survey results were placed before the committee along with the survey itself and a compiled list of people remarks to the questions.
5. The Affordable Housing Proposal for Middle Line was placed before the committee and was approved with amendments. All members of the committee voted in favor.
6. All members of the Housing Committee voted executive session in at 8:45p.m.
7. Meeting adjourned at 9:00p.m.
