Historical Commission Minutes 09/16/14
FINAL
Present for the Historical Commission and attending the meeting were:  Jane Slater, Chairman, Lenny Jason, John Flender, Steve McGhee, and Chuck Hodgkinson.  Bette Carroll, Barbara Armstrong and Karin Wetmore were absent.  

The meeting came to order at 5:15 PM.  

STONE WALL RESTORATION:  As follow up from the last meeting, the Commission reviewed the two quotes to restore the Price’s stone wall across the street from 291 Middle Road.  After review and brief discussion a motion was made to award the project to the lowest bidder – Dolmen Stone Masonry for $2,406.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved with four in favor.
DRAFT ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENT ARTICLE 6 SECTION 6.11:  The Commission discussed the draft bylaw and asked when the next meeting of the Planning Board Subcommittee is scheduled.  Chuck H. said it is scheduled for September 22 @ 3:00 PM with a Planning Board update on 9/22 @ 4:30 PM.  Mr. Jason said while he is not sure if he can make it, he will try to attend.
HENRY ADAMS GUEST LECTURE – THOMAS HART BENTON, ADOLF DEHN, JACKSON POLLOCK:  Ms. Slater thanked everyone for their help with the guest lecture on August 13 and the art show the following morning.  The Library lecture filled the meeting room and there was very good attendance at the art showing which lasted from 9:30 – 11:30 am.  She has received nothing but positive feedback from those who attended.

RESTORE 35 GRAVESTONES IN ABEL’S HILL CEMETERY:  Mr. Flender said Kai Nalenz did a very good job of restoring the 35 slate gravestones.  He added the Cemetery Commission will discuss the possibility of having Mr. Nalenz restore the remaining slate stones with lead caps and make a recommendation to the Historical Commission.

ADMINISTRATION:  The July 15, 2014 meeting minutes were reviewed and approved as presented by consensus.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 @ 5:15 PM.
With no further business to conduct the meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM.
