New Business:
- The Commission approved the proposed language of the Stone Wall Repair. The form will be submitted to the CPC for their approval. Todd will make changes and retype by CPC meeting @6pm

  • The Commission would like to send a letter to the Executive Secretary and the Highway Supervisor requesting the Gate at Quitsa Pound be mended. The Gate was fixed during the past by the Highway Supervisor, who did a great job.
  • Viking’s. Possible topic for future summer speakers? The Commission appeared to have visited this topic before and may not be interested in revisiting it again.
  • Resubmit letter requesting a visit to Noman’s Island this season to review and mend the cemetery. Todd will speak with Tim to set this visit up with State Dept of Interior.
  • Gravestonestudies.org  ~ could bring in interesting speaker for summer topic on gravestone restoration and cleaning. This is a good carry-over to Noman’s visit…
  • Please ask Pam about town historic homes and her viewing them as she does current assessing. The Assessor has been going through the properties and photographing and mapping all town properties. Could the Commission find out if she is also looking at a list of Historic Homes and photographing them?
  • Demolition Bylaw; do we need a new updated version addressing tear-downs? The Commission agreed that our current bylaw only allows Chilmark to delay a teardown in the hope of finding some solution or alternative to tearing it down.
  • Lunch with Harriet and the Commission. The Commission would like to honor and award Harriet a plaque for her contribution to Chilmark’s Historical Commission. Date?
