Morris, 113 Hammett Road (4-6) Dan Parker presented renovation plans on behalf of a client who wishes to build on the existing footprint of a tear-down. The existing system has four-bedroom capacity. The plan shows four bedrooms, plus an upstairs area which could provide for privacy, but which is planned as an office space with built-in tables. The Board also noted that the upstairs area cannot access the nearest bathroom without passing through a bedroom, and determined that this space could count as a “studio”, which requires less septic flow than a bedroom.
The Board can accept that the proposed dwelling is adequately served by the existing four-bedroom septic system, and asked that a letter giving total square footage of the upstairs studio and showing the proposed built-in components be provided for the BOH file.
Two Sisters, 35 Harlock Pond Road (1-12) The Board reviewed a septic permit application presented by Cody Coutinho and prepared by Reid Silva. The Board approved a 10-bedroom Presby system which does not require variances. The permit will be released when a well completion report is received by the BOH office.
Public Hearing, cont’d
Waitzkin, 6 Ocean View Farm Road (25-113) The Board continued the public hearing to its next meeting because soil test data obtained following its last meeting was not properly reflected in the proposed plan.
Muglia, 3 Blue Barque Road (17-38.1) The Board approved a well permit application submitted by Chris Alley on the condition that the exact separation between the proposed well location and the septic leaching system must be shown to meet the 150’ requirement, and the separation to the septic tank must be shown to be > 50’.
Bermudes, 31 Tea Len (12-40) The Board reviewed a septic construction plan prepared by Chris Alley, but noted that the driveway is not shown on the plan, and that the “garage with future bedroom above” is not adequately designated as not being a future guest house. The Board will review the plan at a future meeting.
US Coast Guard Station Menemsha: The Board noted that a new septic system including a grease trap and pump chamber is to be installed at the Coast Guard Station Menemsha. Matt Poole will contact the engineering firm, Coastal Engineering, to learn more about the proposed system.
VNA FY’18 Contract: The Board discussed the public nursing contract, and calculated the town shares for “all-Island” activities based on the proportion represented by each town’s public nursing budget. They asked Marina Lent to communicate their findings to the other Health Agents, and to amend the appended list of Chilmark services accordingly. The Board will review the final draft contract at its next meeting.
Title 5 Official Inspection Report: Good, 20 Mayhew Lane (21-55);
Certificate of Compliance: Axler, 5 Tysbury Manor Road (18-50.3)
I/A Treatment Inspection: The Board asked Marina Lent to look into the test results of two inspections recently received by the BOH office, since they show possible problems in effluent treatment effectiveness.
Invoices: The Board approved the following invoice for payment:
- VNA-CC September 2017 $ 382.50
The meeting adjourned at 18:20 hours.
