Also Present: Kent Helay, Brian Mackey, Melanie Becker
Mackey, 40 Shadbush Hollow (11-6) The Board reviewed renovation plans presented by Brian Mackey, and concluded that the plans are within the three-bedroom capacity of the existing septic system. The Board asked Marina Lent to inform Building Inspector Lenny Jason of this finding.
Eaton, 129 Old Farm Road (3-43) The Board reviewed a septic construction plan submitted by Doug Dowling. The Board had questions regarding soil observation data included on the plan, and asked Marina Lent to follow up with Doug Dowling on this matter.
Pease, 7 Bassett Place (24-185) The Board reviewed a well permit application presented by Kent Healy, and approved the proposed plan, as there are no variances required.
Tobacco 21: The Board discussed the possible revision of Chilmark BOH Regulations to increase the legal age for the purchase and use of tobacco and tobacco products from age 18 to age 21. Katie Carroll informed the Board that the Menemsha Texaco plans to increase its minimum purchase age to 21 regardless of regulation revision starting on May 1. The Board noted that, ideally, all the island towns could agree to take this step together, and have comparable regulations governing tobacco and tobacco products. Matt Poole said it will be discussed at future Health Agents’ meetings, and the Board asked Marina Lent to find the State template for local regulations.
Rabies exemption for Ajax Becker: The Board approved a rabies vaccine exemption for Ajax Becker, with sufficient blood titer results on file.
Town Hall Water: Marina Lent suggested that the use of tap water in the Town Hall would save taxpayer $$ for the purchase of bottled water which is trucked in from off-Island. The Board asked that Marina conduct drinking water tests on the town’s tap water, and also noted that some people perceive an unpleasant odor in the water. Marina suggested that maybe blind taste tests could be conducted to determine whether people are able to identify the town hall water as unpalatable to them.
Certificate of Compliance: Jason, 4 Arno Camp Road (24-180); Englert, Flanders Lane (26-29);
