Wednesday, August 19, 2015
Chilmark Town Hall
5:00 pm

Present:  Katie Carroll, Matt Poole

Absent:  Jan Buhrman

Also Present: Reid Silva (Vineyard Land Surveying and Engineering),  Chris Alley (Schofield, Barbini & Hoehn)

Scheuer, 5 Herring Run (34-4.2)   Chris Alley presented a well replacement permit application on a property which is currently being adjusted in land court.  The engineer will confirm that the proposed well location is > 50’ from the existing septic tank. The Board approved the application.

Novak/Mespelli, 387 Middle Road (26-127) Chris Alley presented a septic tank replacement plan to make room for a swimming pool and garage.  The existing 1,000 gallon tank will be replaced by a 1,500 gallon tank.  The Board approved the application.

Vila, 183 State Road (33-115) Chris Alley came before the Board to discuss whether it would be possible to create an accessory apartment at the property.  The Board reviewed the history of similar requests for the property in question, which had been turned down by the Board on at least four occasions over the past ten years.  It was noted that the property already has two full-sized dwellings, and is approved in its current configuration under variances.  The Board felt that its prior denials were as valid today has they had been in the past.

Neubauer, 29 Fulling Mill Road (25-57) Reid Silva presented a revision for a septic system construction plan approved by the Board on June 3, 2015.  The revision expands the proposed Presby system from 4 bedrooms to 5 bedrooms.   The Board approved the revision.

Lighthouse Home Trust, 35 Cranberry Hill Road, (20-70) Reid Silva presented a septic system construction plan revision to increase the number of bedrooms from six to seven, following discussion with the Board at its meeting on August 5, which determined that the proposed loft does provide for privacy and therefore counts as a seventh bedroom.  The proposed revision meets Chilmark BOH separation requirements and was approved by the Board.

Syslo, 4 Lobster Lane (17-14)  Marina Lent reported to the Board on an oil spill cleanup in progress at 4 Lobster Lane, being conducted by Bennett Environmental, of Brewster, MA.  The spill had occurred when the oil tank’s legs corroded and the tank crashed to the ground.

As-Built Received, Certificate of Compliance Issued:  GrtRockBight Ltd, North Road (8-48);  Doyle, 35 South Bowl Road (3-61);

Temporary Food Event Permits:  Kitchen Porch @ MVFF 8/12 & 8/19;
