Wolkowitz, 6 Nickerson Farm Road (21-48.3) The Board asked Marina Lent to look into whether the existing wells on the property have been properly abandoned as per conditions of well construction permit #04-24, approved on 8/4/2004.

Bentaround LLC (Walker), 22 Cove Road (27.1-224)  The Board reviewed a well construction permit application submitted by Chris Alley for a replacement well in immediate proximity to the existing well which has failed.  The proposed well meets all Chilmark BOH separations, and was approved by the Board on the condition that the existing well must be decommissioned in accordance with DEP Private Well Guidelines.

Scholzman, 11 Kapigan Road (20-92)  The Board reviewed a well construction permit application for a replacement submitted by Chris Alley.  The plan does not require variances from Chilmark BOH regulations.  The Board approved the application, on the condition that the existing cistern be decommissioned in accordance with DEP Private Well Guidelines, and asked Marina Lent to clarify what is meant by an “existing well gallery” shown on the plan.

Newman/Rosenthal, 141 North Road (8-19)  The Board reviewed an emergency well construction permit submitted by C. Kurth and Sons, Inc., for a replacement well in immediate proximity to the existing, failed well at 141 North Road. The Board noted that the well location meets all BOH separation requirements, and approved the permit application with the condition that the existing cistern be decommissioned in accordance with DEP Private Well Guidelines.

Diercks/Abel’s Neck Realty Trust, 27 Abel’s Neck Road (31-6) The Board took note of a Title 5 Official Inspection Report which states that “The main house and guest cabin are served by separate system.  Both systems were found in sound operational condition. A maintenance pumping of the main house tank is recommended at this time.”

Enman, 28 Huntington Way (16-16.1) The Board took note of a Title 5 Official Inspection Report which states that “The system was found in sound operational condition. No pumping is required at this time.”

VNA Contract FY 2013:  The Board approved a contract for FY’13 detailing services to be provided on behalf of the Board to Chilmark citizens.  The Board is assured that funding is available in the BOH budget to cover any additional funding requirements of the Chilmark Flu Clinic, to be held on Friday, October 19, 2012.

Health Care Access Dental Clinic and Schools report, 2012:  The Board welcomed a report from the Dukes County Health Care Access Program on the Dental Clinic held for Chilmark residents: a total of 16 people availed themselves of this service.  A tooth tutoring for proper dental care was also held on May 25, 2012 for the K-1 class of 21 students at the Chilmark School.

Marina vacation   The Board approved proposed vacation days for Administrator Marina Lent on October 10, 11 and 12, 2012.

Bat Euthanasia Invoice:  The Board reviewed an invoice from veterinarian Michelle Jasney for a bat which was euthanized at the request of Animal Control Officer Chris Murphy.  The Board is not aware of Chilmark BOH regulations relating to rabies requiring the Board to assume responsibility for these costs; therefore, the Board decided that, in accordance with Massachusetts regulation 105 CMR 335.000, which states that “no charges shall be paid for services other than for the administration of the vaccine,” the Board is not required to pay this invoice.
