July 23, 2008

The Board approved the minutes of June 18, 2008 and July 2, 2008
Honker & Sons, LLC (25-1.2) – The Board determined that the current floor plan submitted is consistent with the bedroom capacity of the current septic permit #6-2. This septic design will support a seven (7) bedroom house. The Board asked Sylvia to write a memo to the ZBA to confirm this issue.
East House, LLC (32-64) – This disposal works hearing opened at 5:18 PM. Five abutters were notified and three green cards were returned. This septic system revision requires the following variance; A reduction in separation between the proposed leaching area and an existing leaching area from 300 feet to 287 feet. The following conditions apply; 1) The existing septic system components are to be pumped, excavated and backfilled with clean sand, 2) The engineer is to inspect the excavation of the leaching field prior to placement of sand fill, 3) The existing well is to be abandoned and backfilled with neat concrete. 4) The laundry within the garage is to be served by an ejector pump. Katie made a motion to approve, Mike seconded, and it was approved
unanimously.
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (34-1.3) – The Board approved this well permit application.
Susan Davidson (34-1.2 & 34-1.1) – This hearing opened at 5:46 PM This septic system is in the Coastal District. The septic design requires the following variances; 1) A reduction in separation between leaching area and wetland from 150 feet to 105 feet, 2) A reduction in separation between leaching area and leaching area from 300 feet to 200 feet. The engineer has proposed an easement locating the septic system leaching area on a separate parcel than the house. The Board will continue this hearing on August 6, 2008 at 5:15 PM.
Robert H. Nixon (21-79) – This hearing was opened at 6:18 PM, the engineer requested a continuance to August 6, 2008 at 5:30.
Susan Heilbron & Andrew Goldman (21-44 & 45) – The Board approved this four (4) bedroom residential septic system.
The Board asked Sylvia to investigate the camp site of Joy Flanders to see if it is in compliance with the permit issued.
Molly Doyle (3-60) -- The Board approved this well permit revision.
Saltmeadow (21-52.1) – The Board approved a well permit application for this parcel. The existing wells must be abandoned as they do not meet the Board of Health minimum yield requirement.

The Board reviewed the Chilmark Road Race plan submitted by Hugh Wiseman.
Sylvia submitted a draft of the Coastal District Septic Variance Regulation. The Board made some changes and this will be reviewed again at the next meeting.
The following septic inspection report was received: Phil Derick (21-13) – passes
The following “as-built” letter was received: Jeffrey Heidt (11-28.14)
