Board of Health Minutes 08/17/05
Chilmark Board of Health Minutes
August 17, 2005

Attendees: Mike Renahan, Matt Poole, Katie Carroll, Sylvia Yeomans, Kent Healy, Glenn Provost, Deborah Hancock, Chris Alley

Board approved minutes of the July 20, 2005, and August 3, 2005 meetings.

Stearns & Wheler Affidavits B Mike Renahan asked Matt Poole to bring the notarized Stearns & Wheler affidavits to the county registry of deeds to be recorded.

Wilma Hancock/Jerome Kenney (27.1-119 & 120) B Glenn Provost explained that this installation left the septic tank exposed above ground.  He proposed lowering the tank and installing a pump chamber.  The Board discussed the necessity to locate the pump alarm where both parties would have access to it.  The Board approved this conceptual revision and suggested that Mr. Provost  submit a revised septic design.

Terry Meinelt (17-8.1 & 17-8.3) B The Board approved  out-of-season perc tests  for both of these parcels.  Existing data will be used to determine high ground water.

Heather Sussman (30-21) B This well application requires a variance in the separation between well and leaching area, which is a reduction from 150 feet to 130 feet.  The Board approved this well permit application with the following condition; the owner must write a letter to acknowledge the separation between well and leaching area is less than the required 150 feet.

Tom Walsh (25-11) B Mike reported that the first drill hole for a well on this parcel was not good.  John Clarke has suggested drilling on the hill.  The Board asked Sylvia to call John Clarke and inform him that a new well application is required and must be approved prior to drilling at another well location.

Elisha Weisner (30-76 & 31-14) B This sub-division has not been approved yet, so the parcel does not exist.  The Planning Board is reviewing this on Monday 8/22/05.  The proposed property line will require variances.  The Board does not want to grant a variance on a newly created lot.  The Board suggested a different property line and grant an easement to the mother (who owns one of the parcels) to allow her to keep her cesspool on the new lot.

Chairman Rotation B Katie Carroll nominated Mike Renahan as Chairman, Matt Poole second the motion and it was so carried.  Mike Renahan will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Health.

Chilmark Landfill B Mike discussed the tasks being done to complete the punch list.  John Keene is pumping the water out of the drainage infiltration basin.
