Present:  Steve Lewenberg, Chair, Jennie Greene, Max McCreery, Jim Malkin, Frank LoRusso, Bill Rossi, BOS Representative,
Not Present:
Staff: Jennifer Christy, Administrative Assistant, Chuck Hodgkinson, Virginia Jones, Asst. to the Harbor Dept.


The meeting was called to order at 8:02 AM by Chair Lewenberg.

Step Increase Procedure:
  • Discussion occurred regarding the procedure for step increase approval.
  • Mr. Malkin made a motion that the Board states it is acceptable practice for an employee to waive a step increase for a fiscal year. The motion was seconded and the Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.
  • Mr. Rossi asked that a note be made to ask Jack Collins, attorney for the town regarding personnel matters, whether this practice would have any unexpected legal consequences.
Review of Social Media Policy DRAFT:
  • Mr. Hodgkinson distributed employee comments. The Board read comments from Marina Lent, Virginia Jones and Ebba Hierta.
  • Mr. Malkin offered to revise the social media policy to reflect consideration of the comments and discussion. Mr. Malkin will submit the draft before the next meeting, on May 16, 2013, so that members have time to review.
Seasonal Position Question:
  • Correspondence from Jack Collins, attorney, was read regarding benefits of seasonal employees.
  • Chair Lewenberg asks that the Beach Committee be informed of Mr. Collins’ opinion. Ms. Greene offers to draft a memo to department heads.
Municipal Position Classification Manual DRAFT:
  • Discussion occurred and the Board decided to work individually to ‘test’ the new draft against three job descriptions.
  • Ms. Christy was asked to prepare a packet of the classification manual draft and three job descriptions for each member and send electronically prior to the May 16, 2013 meeting
