Present: Sarah Mayhew Shipway, Bill Randol, Doug Sederholm, Frank Yeomans, Marshall Carroll, Frank Fenner, Tim Carroll.
Special Town Meeting June 28th 2007
ARTICLE 1. To see if the Town will vote pursuant to Section X of the Martha=s Vineyard Refuse Disposal and Resource Recovery District Agreement to approve the Martha=s Vineyard Refuse Disposal and Resource Recovery District borrowing a sum not to exceed One Million Five Hundred Twenty-Nine Thousand Dollars ($1,529,000.00) for the purpose of acquiring land for the expansion of the District=s Facility, including the payment of costs incidental and relative thereto.
Selectman Frank Fenner said that he was one of Chilmark’s two representatives on the MVRD&RRD board. He explained why this article was necessary. There was discussion.

ARTICLE 2. To see if the town will vote to Raise and Appropriate the sum of Seventy Five Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Eight Dollars ($75,258.00), and to amend the Martha=s Vineyard Regional High School FY'08 assessment approved at the Annual Town Meeting, April 23rd 2007 from $366,628.00 to $441,886.00.
Mr. Fenner and Mr. Tim Carroll explained the reason for this article. Mr. Yeomans departed to attend another meeting. There was discussion. The Finance Advisory Committee voted to reluctantly recommend this new assessment on a one-time-basis, with a request that the Selectmen work to correct this inequitable situation created by the Commonwealth through the implementation of the statutory formula in violation of our long standing regional high school agreement.
