Community Preservation Committee Minutes 09/16/09
FINAL
Present for the Community Preservation Committee and attending the meeting were:  Jane Slater, Barbara Murphy, Tim Carroll, Karin Wetmore, Warren Doty, Janet Weidner and Chuck Hodgkinson. Andy Goldman and Andrew Fischer were absent.     

The meeting came to order at 6:03 PM.  Mr. Doty was appointed acting Chairman in                 Mr. Goldman’s absence.  

1.      MEETING MINUTES:  The June 17, 2009 regular meeting minutes were reviewed.  A motion was made to approve the minutes as presented.  The motion was seconded and voted unanimously in favor.

2.      STONE WALLS PHASE III UPDATE:  Chuck H. reviewed the request from Ellen Muglia and Michael VanValkenburgh for the balance of the $20,000 matching appropriation ($6,770 remaining) to restore the stone wall abutting Ms. Muglia’s property on South Road.  The Committee discussed the benefits of the stone wall program and approved the request with the following conditions:  1. The $6,770 does not exceed 50 percent of the total cost to restore the stone wall – as outlined in the approved warrant article.  2.  The applicant seeks three separate quotes from different contractors for the entire project.  3.  The Contractor will abide by the restoration guidelines developed by the Historical Commission.  4.  The Committee evaluates the successes of previous stone wall projects and outlines a way to make future stone wall restoration programs even better.

3.      STONE WALL RESTORATION PROPOSAL - ALLEN FARM:   At Mr. Goldman’s request the Committee agreed to postpone the discussion of this application to a future meeting.

4.      DUKES COUNTY APPLICATION FOR CPA FUNDS:  Chuck H. informed the Committee that the Dukes County Commissioner’s and Manager are preparing a request for Historic Preservation funds to restore the windows on the courthouse.  The application is being prepared for consideration at the April 2010 Annual Town Meeting.

5.      NEXT MEETINGS:  The next meeting is October 21 @ 6:00 PM.

With no further business to conduct the meeting adjourned at 6:40 PM.
