Beach Committee Minutes 05/11/2010
Chilmark Beach Committee
May 11th, 2010
Present: Clarissa Allen,  Pam Bunker, Wayne Iacono, Kristin Maloney, Martina Mastromonaco, Steve McQuiggan, & Brandon Willett

Meeting called to order at 5:10pm

Voted to approve the minutes from April 13th, 2010.

The Superintendant briefed the committee on all the employee hiring & uniform ordering.  She also briefed the committee about the meeting w/ Donald Liptack, Jo-Ann Taylor & Rusty Walton in regards to the beach erosion and possible solutions.  Martina described the snow fence set-up, hay bales & brush bins to try to build sand up for future beach grass plantings this fall.
Discussion of a possible warrant article to be requested for these funds to this start project.
Martina will come up with a timeline for fall plantings , hay bales & fencing.

The Stonewall clearing project to be discussed and applied for through Con Com.

The road work was completed, for LVB

Squibnocket parking lot to be fixed.

Year round stairs discussed at Squibnocket, the committee will look into any ideas to facilitate this idea.

Squibnocket parking lot repair bill, the Beach Committee doesn’t feel this it should be solely responsible for funding.  The funding should be split between the Town & Squibnocket Assoc.

Hand rails will be replaced on the Squibnocket stairs to prevent splintering.

Bumper sticker colors & design idea was finalized will review idea w/ selectmen for possible approval.  Cost will be $550.00 to purchase 1000 bumper stickers, 500 for each beach.

Committee will review all job descriptions & finalize them.  This will be discussed and approved for next meeting.

One of the Committee members briefed the other members on the meeting which took place with Squibnocket caretaker, VOLF, Con. Comm & Randy Jardin (Waumpaonoag tribe) about the public trespassing on to the beach in areas that are not town leased land.

Will complete Martina’s job evaluation on June 1st & then start the job descriptions.

Sticker program is slow going to start this year but will be completed.
