Meeting called to order at 5:07
~
Voted to approve the minutes from October 8, 2009.
~
Committee started to discuss why the beach guard’s job title is beach guards and not lifeguards.  The committee will continue this discussion and work on resolving the clarification of the two job titles.  The beach guards are recertifying their lifeguard skills annually to be able to hold the position.
~
The committee received a letter from a patron about a confrontational incident that occurred on September 2, 2009 involving the Superintendant and the gate guard.
~
Discussion took place about possibly putting a temporary structure at Lucy Vincent to house the jet ski and all-terrain vehicle during the summer.  In order to provide faster access in an emergency.  Currently these vehicles are housed at the Menemsha Crossroad fire station.
~
Committee will start to work on annual budget next meeting.
~
The Chilmark pond owner’s committee stacked hay bales behind the volley ball net area.  We were encouraged to meet with this committee and learn how to stack the bales correctly and also make sure that the snow fencing installed must have breaks in it so the Piping Plovers can go back and forth through to care for their young.
~
A chain of command outline must be drafted so when there is a question on whether swimming will be deemed unsafe, the Superintendant must contact the Beach Committee chairperson and Beach Committee. Then the Committee member will call Board of Selectmen when closing the beach is necessary.
~
This winter the job descriptions will be reviewed and updated as needed for the Beach guard/Life guards, Parking lot attendants, Gate Guards and Sticker Clerks.

The Committee reiterated a second Assistant Superintendant would be hired this upcoming season.
