Chichester Road Advisory Committee
DRAFT Minutes of March 12, 2018
Attending: Allen Mayville Jr., Guy Goodwin, Doug Hall, Brian Eldredge, Jim Plunkett
Absent: Tom Jameson
Chair Allen Mayville opened the meeting at 6:32 pm.
Committee members reviewed the minutes of February 12, 2018. A motion was made, seconded, and voted unanimously to approve the minutes of that meeting.
Members observed that this spring’s frost heaves were not as bad as might be expected.
There was discussion of the paved road segments that need work and should be inspected when spring has arrived. Particular ones mentioned included Bear Hill, Ring Road, Kelly’s Corner, Websters Mills, remaining portions of Horse Corner, etc.
There was also discussion of the advantages for the town if the State would make the intersection of Main/Canterbury/Center streets a four way stop. It would greatly decrease traffic on Main Street and would increase public safety.
There was general discussion about increasing the proposed town budget for Road Reconstruction from $300,000 to $319,000 at the Saturday town meeting. Alan agreed to make a motion to do so. Jim will also present the argument in favor.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday April 9 at 6:30pm at the Town Highway Office.
Respectfully submitted by
Doug Hall
