Chichester Road Advisory Committee
Minutes of February 12, 2018

Chair Allen Mayville opened the meeting at 6:31 pm.
Committee members reviewed the minutes of January 8, 2018. A motion was made, seconded, and voted unanimously to approve the minutes of that meeting.
Doug discussed the budget and warrant as approved by the Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee at a recent meeting. He said he had met with Jodi to discuss the resulting spreadsheet and tax impact. He stated that if all warrant articles are approved the tax rate will not increase and may even decrease. He stated that he would like to see the amount for capital reserve funds (warrant article #8) restored to the original amount. That would have to happen as an amendment at Town Meeting.
Jim raised the issue of the road reconstruction line in the budget being reduced to $300,000 when the contract for work on King Road was for $319,000. There was discussion about adding back either $19,000 or $30,000 to that line. Jim stated that if asphalt costs escalated that resulting extra cost could be taken from the special Transportation Fund. He felt $319,000 was needed in the budget.
A motion was made, seconded and voted unanimously that the RAC will “support any amendment to add $19,000 back to the Road Reconstruction line in the budget at Town Meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday March 12 at 6:30pm at the Town Highway Office.
