Road Advisory Committee Minutes 01/09/2017
Chichester Road Advisory Committee

Minutes of January 9, 2017

Attending: Allen Mayville, Jr., Jim Plunkett, BrianEldredge, Doug Hall, Tom Jameson

Absent: Guy Goodwin

Chair Allen Mayville opened the meeting at 6:30pm.

A motion was made, seconded and voted unanimously to approvethe minutes of the December 12 meeting.

The budget for crack-sealing was discussed. Jim indicatedthat the contract is about $10,000 each year and that is sufficient to coverabout 5 miles of paved roads. This means that each mile will be revisistedevery 4 or 5 years, although it depends on conditions of each road’s surface.

There was discussion of the problems of plowing circles.

Brian explained the contractors used in Pittsfield forvarious road work.

Jim stated that the state section of Canterbury Road isscheduled by the state to be rebuilt in 2019 and then be turned over to thetown provided the town approves. Jim feels that the date will probably bepushed back because the State did resurface their portion of the road and itnow will not need rebuilding for some additional years.

Lacking an agenda for the usual monthly meeting in February, the committee decided to cancel that meeting and reschedule the March meetingfor Monday March 6 at 6:30pm in the Highway office. March 6 will be in advanceof town meeting and the committee will therefore have time to discuss anyproblems that may occur in the finalization of the budget before the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 pm.

Doug Hall
