SELECTMEN’S MINUTES
12/11/2001

PRESENT:  Jeffrey Jordan, Theodore Bailey, Dennis Call, Judy Kenneally - Budget Committee:  Stephen MacCleery, Joanna McIntosh, Richard Debold, Walter Sanborn

OLD BUSINESS:

The minutes of 12/04/2001 were accepted as written, signed and posted to our web page.

NEW BUSINESS:

SUBJECT:  Budget Committee – Police
HIGHLIGHTS:

Present:  Cpl. Clarke

Discussed 2002 budget proposal.  Joanna asked about the PD garage.  The garage will not be built.  The budget money will go into surplus.  The budget request includes an added full-time officer.  Cpl. Clarke calculated that a full-time officer will be more cost-effective and time-effective than coverage with part-time officers.  Discussed creating Town ordinances for police fines.  The Town would collect the money for fines if ordinances adopted.

SUBJECT:  Budget Committee – Fire
HIGHLIGHTS:

Present:  Chief, John Prickett

Discussed 2002 budget proposal.  Discussed a new payroll process for fire fighter service.  Added a new line in the budget request for home defense chemical biological for haz mat suits. And training for haz mat.

Discussed 2002 budget proposal.  

SUBJECT:  Board discussion
HIGHLIGHTS:

The body agreed to meet again to discuss the budget January 8.

The public hearing to discuss Connemara Drive will be held next week, December 18.

A letter was sent to Teacher’s Barn in reference to operating a home occupation.

Cpl. Clarke asked about the new health insurance policy.  After a discussion, the Board decided to revisit the policy change.
