SELECTMEN’S MINUTES
October 16, 2001


PRESENT:  Jeffery Jordan, Theodore Bailey, Dennis Call, and Heather Briggs

OLD BUSINESS:

The minutes of 10/09/2001 were accepted as written, and signed and posted to our web page.

SUBJECT: HIGHWAY, A J May
HIGHLIGHTS:

A J May stated that Horse Corner Road was waiting for the pipe to be done before doing the paving.

The autumn grading is done.

The Board asked A J May to talk to Tepper Contractors to see if there can be a $4,500 savings somewhere in the building.

The Board told A J May to get rid of the trailer near the new building and to make sure that the surrounding area is cleaned up.

It was discussed to take the old V-plow and put a Highway Department sign on it as other towns have done.

A J May let the Board know that the State requires 29 different classes for the Highway department to be taken next year.

SUBJECT: Police Chief, Ann Emerson  
HIGHLIGHTS:

Present:  Cpl Patrick Clarke

The Police Department Budget was presented by Pat Clarke and was discussed by both Pat Clarke and Ann Emerson with the Board.

Judy was asked to look into the reimbursed line item and how to implement it properly.

It was discussed that a second full-time police officer be considered.  The alternative is to have many part time police officers to compensate for the hours needed for the proper coverage.

It was agreed by the Board to increase the percentage the Town of Chichester pays for insurance to 80% for full time employees.

The full-time chief’s position was discussed.

Chairman Jeff Jordan addressed issues regarding any problems or conflicts to police scheduling will be handled by the Police Chief.

SUBJECT:  Board Discussion
HIGHLIGHTS:

The Luksza court hearing was Monday, October 15, 2001 at 10:oo AM.  The Town of Chichester won the case.  No Attorney fees will be sought.

Pembroke would like to meet to finish the perambulation.  Scheduling for this will be discussed at next week’s Board meeting.

Chairman Jeffrey Jordan will be in CA next week and will not be attending the October 23, 2001 meeting.
