SELECTMEN’S MINUTES
JULY 24, 2001
PRESENT: Jeffery Jordan, Theodore Bailey, Dennis Call, Heather Briggs
OLD BUSINESS:
The minutes of July 17, 2001 were amended and accepted to read “The Board told Fire Chief, John Prickett, to take the old Forestry 54-01 Fire truck off the road and return the plates to the Board”.
NEW BUSINESS:
SUBJECT: Building inspector, Dave Paveglio
HIGHLIGHTS:
Dave Paveglio came in to inquire about the Millican Nursery and how it should be categorized for a building permit. The Board decided it should be under the commercial classification. Dave will inspect the old building and contact the fire department to make sure it will meet the fire codes.
SUBJECT: Highway, A J May
HIGHLIGHTS:
A J will meet with Malachy on July 25, 2001 regarding the final paving on Connemara Drive. Jeff Jordan will attend the meeting as well.
A J reported that all went well with the Highway Department while he was away on vacation.
A J wants to have the culvert on Horse Corner looked at before this coming winter.
SUBJECT: POLICE CHIEF, Ann Emerson
HIGHLIGHTS:
Chief Emerson reported that they are still looking into prices for the 26 x 26 garage.
The Board suggested establishing a capital reserve fund for a new police station.
SUBJECT: Mr. Gordon Pike
HIGHLIGHTS:
Mr. Pike told of his progress with the cleaning of his property. He plans to have it done before autumn.
SUBJECT: Board Discussion
HIGHLIGHTS:
According to RSA 35:15 the Selectmen, as agents, can spend Recreation Capital Reserve for Rec. purposes. No public hearing is required. Chairman of the Recreation Commission, Richard Debold will be told of this State Statute.
Selectman Bailey looked into the modular homes on the Abbott property and found 12 shrink-wrapped units. They are all on stands without wheels.
Selectman Dennis Call brought up an “Adopt a Culvert” idea.
Chairman Jeffery Jordan brought back the “Adopt a Cemetery” idea.
