Grange Meeting Minutes 02/06/2013

Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on February 6. Members draped the Charter in loving memory of Ed Wladkowski. A committee of Carolee Davison, Hannah West, and Mary West was appointed to write resolutions in his memory.

Reports were given on a small but successful gathering on January 23 for the purpose of questions from the public about Town government in Chichester. Nancy Tanner and Jamie Pike were present from the Town office to answer questions. The Chichester Library co-sponsored this event. The group was small, but the questions were excellent.

The State Grange February Youth Rally was held on February 2nd in Hooksett. Fifty people were present for the evening meeting, and others were present earlier in the day to participate in service projects and other activities such as the Grange Knowledge Test. Members of Watatic Grange served two delicious meals and provided snacks as well.

Thank-you notes from the third graders at Northwood School were read and enjoyed. The youngsters were very happy to receive dictionaries in January, a gift from Chichester Grange and the Epsom Circle Restaurant as part of The Dictionary Project. Members voted to purchase dictionaries for Barnstead School this year as their previous sponsor has stepped back from the project.

Plans were started for a Spring-themed Penny Sale to be held in April. Members were delighted to receive a donation from the Foss Family Foundation. Mr. Foss, a member of Catamount Grange in Pittsfield before it merged with Chichester Grange, has been very generous to Chichester Grange and the Grange is very appreciative.

The program was Show & Tell. Members shared items appropriate to February: a heart-shaped locket, an Avon bottle shaped like a bust of Lincoln, a singing Mickey Mouse toy holding a valentine, a stuffed animal “the lemur of love,” two valentine cards, and a bear with a valentine balloon. In the inventions category there were two original pieces of counted cross stitch and a collection of coupon dispensers. Master Kevin Belval advertised the Concord Players’ production of “Boeing, Boeing” which will take place on February 15-17 at the Concord City Auditorium.

Following the meeting members enjoyed refreshments provided by Carolee Davison. The next meeting will be March 6, as Chichester Grange meets only once during February.
