Cemetery Trustees

The cemetery trustees met at the Historical Society at 9AM.
Bids: The Trustees opened the bids for cemetery maintenance. The decision to award the contract will be made at next month’s meeting after the Trustees ask for some more information from one of the bidders.
Budget: The Trustees feel they can work with the amount of money in the 2011 budget even though it was cut by $2000. Therefore, a budget of $12,700 (equal to 2011) will be submitted for 2012.
Kaime: Ruth placed a call to Dawson Fence Co to get a quote on fence repair at Kaime Cemetery. The pipe is there and only needs to be reattached.
Inquiry: Scott got a call from Rose Welch (Elliot) concerning use of a 3rd empty plot in her parent’s lot at Pineground Cemetery. Scott told her the Trustees do not determine who is buried in private lots. He did suggest that she confer with any other siblings who may have an interest.
Warrant Article: The Trustees drafted the following warrant article to be discussed at next March’s Town Meeting:
To see if the Town will vote to accept the ownership and care of Griffin Cemetery on King Road as requested by the eldest living descendent.
There will be no additional cost since the town has traditionally mowed this cemetery. Any trust funds associated with this cemetery will be turned over to the town annually. The town will also gain saleable burial lots in the eastern part of this cemetery.
