Cemetery Trustees

Present: Ruth Hammen, Scott Marston, Fred Shaw

The cemetery trustees met at the Historical Society at 9AM.

Payment: The Trustees authorized a payment of $835 (invoice 969) to Steve’s Quality Service for cemetery mowings.

Fire Department: Paul Sanborn has asked the Trustees with help in locating Chichester firemen gravesites for the purpose of displaying flags as part of the Fire Department’s 75th anniversary. The Trustees are very willing to help find these gravesites but informed Mr. Sanborn that these special flags may only be displayed for one month.

Griffin Cemetery: Elizabeth Keniston, oldest descendent of individuals buried in Griffin Cemetery, wishes to deed this cemetery to the Town of Chichester. The trustees informed her that she will need to write a letter of intent to the Town.

Pineground: Cornerstones and head stone have been placed on the Metcalf lot. A temporary flat stone remains but currently rests on an adjacent lot and will need to be removed.

Pineground: A memorial bench has been installed on the Lessels lot (Row 7-2a).

Pineground: The Trustees have received the Certificate of Cremation for Christopher Lawrence, Jr. Permission has been received from his mother and brother to allow burial in one of the gravesites on the Christopher Lawrence, Sr lot. (See file)

Brush: The Trustees have authorized Steve to remove brush from both sides of the road facing walls at Brown and Knowlton-Edgerly Cemeteries. He is also authorized to remove brush in the northeast section of the Knowlton-Edgerly Cemetery back to the wall.

Meeting: Next month’s meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept 1 instead of Friday, Sept 2.
