Minutes of Cheverly (Maryland) Tree Commission, March 23, 2010
The Cheverly Tree Commission began its meeting in Committee Room 2 of the Cheverly Community Center, 6401 Forest Road, Cheverly, MD, at 8 PM, with commissioners Nathan McElroy, Michael Giese, and Michael Callahan in attendance.
Per item 1 of the meeting agenda, the Commissioners discussed the status of the spring tree planting.
Skipping to item 5, the Commissioners discussed the best uses of the Commission’s electronic communication tools. Callahan agreed to write future agenda and newsletter items, while Giese agreed to maintain the Commission’s email records and minutes.
Turning to item 2, the Commissioners discussed potential formats for a Cheverly champion tree/trees of significance program. McElroy agreed to identify five species as initial champions and then publicize them for the May newsletter. The Commission may present a certificate to any private property owner.
Per item 4, McElroy agreed to bring template for street tree inventory to next meeting. Commission discussed possible sampling methodologies.
In final discussion of the night, Commissioners recurred to item 1 and further discussed spring tree planting possibilities.
Meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.
