Meeting Minutes
December 10, 2015
Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 8:00 pm in the Cheverly Community Center.
In attendance: CMs, Riazi, Coolen, Eldridge, Daly and Stewart.
Pledge of Allegiance
- CM Stewart to excuse CM Rodgers and Riazi. CM Eldridge seconded.Approved 5-0.
Agenda/Approval/Changes
Mayor removed item 8 from the agenda.

Mayor recognized the Cheverly 10 and under soccer team that came in second place. Mr. David Combs introduced the children and awarded them a medallion.
Chief’s Report
Chief Robshaw we have theft as our number one crime. We have had some package thefts as noted on social media. We have located the suspects that we had a look-out. We have also recovered some of the packages. To overcome this issue one can either pick-up the package from the shipping company location, have packages delivered to a neighbor that may be home or have them delivered when you are home. Please do not text to the on call cell phone. A new law came out in October that notes that you can not smoke tobacco products with a child under 6 years of age. You can be fined.
Recreation Council
Mayor there will be a meeting in the third week of January to review the building usage.
Green Infrastructure Committee
Mayor two things: they have been working with park and planning to discuss the green aspects of the sector plan and they were at 6301 Kilmer last weekend removing some invasive plants from the property.
Cheverly Day Committee
CM Daly we will have a meeting on January 12th at 7:30 in the Community Center. We will be planning a parade year. Everyone is welcome and we encourage your ideas. We are looking for everyone’s participation.
Planning Board Report
CM Eldridge the Planning Board at the last meeting met with MNCPPC regarding the Sector Plan process. The big news is the next public meeting during the week of January 25th probably at Judith P. Hoyer School. There has been a lot of discussion regarding the aggregate recycling plant just outside old ward four. The owners want to make their temporary permit a permanent permit.
Mayor there is a draft coalition regarding the aggregate plant in your email boxes, please provide your input. We have talked about stormwater management in town for a long time and the County stormwater management program has been going in fits and starts. David and Juan have made a number of proposals, but they said municipalities are not allowed to participate. Now the County has a number of projects in Town and the County has picked-up on one of Juan’s proposals that could potentially handle 90 acres and 40 acres of impervious surface. It is one of the County’s lowest cost and highest impact projects.

Mayor and Council Announcements
CM Coolen the Community Market grand finale is this weekend in the gym. You can buy Christmas presents, lots of treats and come and enjoy.
CM Riazi the Cheverly Village Planning Group will be offering a presentation on January 9th from 2-4 pm at the Howard Johnson’s for a presentation on healthcare. I want to wish everyone joy, love and peace in the New Year
CM Eldridge I want to thank everyone who helped with the Turkey Trot with over 120 people running in the race. We raised about $2,000 to be split between the Gladys Noon Spellman PTA and the Community Food Bank. Thanks to everyone involved in the holiday lighting program. I also want to wish everyone a happy new year.
CM Stewart just in the same mode of reflection I want to wish everyone in Cheverly a happy holiday and it has been a great six months on Council and I am excited about the new year.
Mayor thanks to Public Works for the great work on the holiday tree lighting. Sunday the 20th is a really big day as it is the holiday decorating contest. A number of us have been asked to support Syrian refugees and we are a non-partisan government and we don’t take positions on these types of things. We do have a mission statement and Mayor read the statement. Happy Holidays and there will be no Worksession in December.
