CM Riazi asked about the NPS homes and Mr. Warrington responded that the Department of Interior is out to bid on the removal of the homes.
Chief’s Report
Chief Robshaw crime was down in September and we had a very good month. Theft continues to be our number one crime. We made an arrest last week and we have closed 23 cases. Our Public Safety Day was our most successful in years and Prince George’s County has been very helpful in providing support in that success. We donated $400 to Concern for Police Survivors and $50 to the Boy Scouts. Halloween is at the end of the month and is from 6pm to 8pm.
CM Riazi is there also an October 1st seat belt law going in effect for front and back seat and do we have anyone trained on infant seats.
Chief Robshaw I will expand on that in the Newsletter, but seat belts must be worn if available. We do not have anyone currently on staff that can do child seat inspections because it is a 7 day course, but the County Police have officers on staff that can provide an inspection. We will be posting a wanted look-out on our website of a burglary and robbery suspect from Ward 5. We have a picture, but not a name.

Citizen Input
Landover Road Resident noted concerns for public safety. Ambulances have sirens on and it is very disturbing. People speed on Landover Road and can Cheverly put speed bumps to slow down traffic. In the back of Landover Road is an alley and it is being used as a dumping ground and there is a lot of tree and construction debris. There is trash in the street by the Medical Center. My neighbors are cutting down a lot of trees in their back yards and I find that disturbing and I wanted to bring my concerns to this committee.
Ms. Wanda Gist I live in Ward 6. I am new to Cheverly and over by the 7-11 at the ramp that brings you back into Cheverly. There are weeds and bushes and overgrowth. I am afraid of sitting at that light because it is so dangerous. I am asking you to ask the State to cut some of this down and we will prevent people from being robbed and attacked.
