  • Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
The Board had a discussion with a resident who was concerned about how to access PEG channels.

They also had a discussion about a resident who came in to find out how they could pay on line for the Recreation programs.  The Board is not at that point yet but they are working on it.

They had another discussion with a carpenter who came in and talked with the Board about specifications for the West Buxton Public Library roof.  Selectman Burns is putting that information together to send out for bids.

The Selectmen talked about the school budget and all three here tonight attended the School Board Meeting on Monday and listened to the proposals made by Mr. Brockman about how they will handle the money that was returned to them from the State.  No decision has been made yet.

The Board had some discussion on carry forwards, the status of the Personnel Policy, and the Safety Training Plan.

  • Review of Correspondence
  • News Release from Maine Department of Labor – Re:  York County Career Center
  • Memo – Re: Property appraisers

  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Harmon talked about the School Board Meeting.  She thanked Selectman Burns for getting up and speaking on the Board’s behalf about what they think should be done with the money the District received back from the State.  She mentioned representatives were there from Standish and Hollis as well.

She reported that the Assessors are in town and said this goes to the Warrant Article that was approved for the property card updates.  She went on to remind everyone that school started today and asked folks to slow down and be aware that children are out by the roads in the morning.  She has been working on the Certificate of Assessment that the Board has to do, and said she passed corrections the selectmen made on the Safety Training Plan along to David Anderson.  He is now working on the fourth and final draft.

Selectman Harmon mentioned taking a call from a resident who is off the Simpson Road and waiting for an answer regarding their concern about a safety plan or evacuation plan in the event Simpson Road is ever blocked off.  Selectman Harmon is waiting for someone to get back to her to find out if the Stackpole Creek Committee was reconvened or not.

Selectman Burns has been in every day keeping up with mail, checking on messages and talking with other selectmen who are here at the same time.  He went on to talk about the “PEG” channels and explained how to find them.  He mentioned a meeting at the Saco River Community TV Station in Hollis tomorrow and he explained the process they will go through to finalize the contract they have been negotiating for the past four and a half years.  After the towns have all signed their agreements and Time Warner has done the same, within 60 days we should get the “PEG” money which amounted to somewhere in the vicinity of $80,000 last year.

Selectman Harmon asked a question about where the local channels will be viewed on the analog sets with a box and Selectman Burns said he believes those will be on the same channel numbers they have been in the past.

Selectman Booker was in most every day or called in.  She also attended the School Board meeting Monday night and went on to mention a discussion she had earlier this week with Fred Farnham and Selectman Harmon about an ongoing issue with a resident.  Selectman Booker said she had a brief discussion with our Recreation Director yesterday about methods we might use so the Board can more readily and easily access information on account balances in the Recreation Program.  Selectman Booker said this is something the Board has been working on for some time.  The software is not as user friendly as they would like it to be and they are trying to find a good way to do that.
