Meeting Agenda

  • Call to Order
The Meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.

  • Pledge of Allegiance

  • Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes
Selectmen Meeting Minutes February 1, 2012.  Approved 4-0-1.

  • Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
The Historical Society was in at 5:30 discussing the old SAD 6 Central Office building. Apparently it is going to be offered back to the Town but there was some confusion about whether the offer was going to be verbal or in writing and what conditions prevail.  The Board hopes to get something in writing so they know exactly what is being offered.

The Board also discussed some AP items and discussed resumes they have received for the Tax Collector position.

Someone also came in to talk about the Route 112 re-build and why they have not cut trees in front of the house by the Boynton Road because it is the worst corner on the whole stretch of road.  The Selectmen were told tonight that they found out the house is on some historic national registry so they could not do anything there.  The Selectmen will look into it.

  • Correspondence
  • Most of the correspondence this week was the 56 resumes for the Tax Collector position.
  • The Board received a letter from Time Warner with their Annual Financial Report for Buxton subscribers.  Although they have lost some subscribers, the Town still received our 5% which is the fee that we get for the billing for the year.  Total revenue for the whole year was around $80,000.

        Review of Projects and Issues

Selectman Harmon has been reviewing resumes, working on budget items, dealing with phone calls and helping people coming in.  She provided the gentleman who came in tonight with the name and phone number of the resident representative for the Route 112 re-build.  If anyone has questions or would like his name we have that information here at Town Hall.
Selectman Emery was in last Thursday and Friday helping with a couple of projects and looking through resumes.
Selectman Senechal attended the Workshop Monday night and she has been working on her budget items.
Selectman Burns was at the Workshop Monday night and attended the SAD 6 Budget Meeting last evening.  He said they are still trying to decide what their target is for this year’s budget.  Selectman Burns has been very busy this past week talking every day with the power broker regarding the electricity contract, reviewing the contract with the broker and our lawyer.  He has also been working on budget items and action items from the Board’s Workshop Monday night.

  • Old Business
Yesterday Bill Hall came in and talked with Selectman Burns and Charisse, our Treasurer, about some of the items they discussed last week.  There were a couple of things left for Bill to do.  Once the board gets the final draft they will be ready to take a vote to finalize the audit.

  • New Business
The Board has some candidates for the Tax Collector position who look very promising.  They will set up interviews with those applicants next week.

Budgets are due on the 15th from Department Heads.  And the Selectmen are hoping to start their first pass on that as soon as they come in.

  • Executive Orders
E.O.1112021008 – An order to allow David Pinkham to carry forward 40 hours vacation time.  Approved.  The vote was 3 in favor, 1 opposed, and 1 absent.  3 voted yes, 1 voted no, and one was absent.
