Selectman Libby has been quite busy working on tax issues.

Selectman Emery has been coming in to the office, keeping up with mail and working on small projects.

Selectman Senechal has been dealing with a lot of correspondence and she mentioned that there has been a lot of foot traffic and people coming in to discuss issues they have.  She commented on the correspondence from the Postal Service saying that she talked with the Postmaster in Bar Mills.  The Postmaster does not think the Bar Mills Post Office or the West Buxton Post Office will be closed because of the amount of mail that goes through them.

On Friday Selectman Burns attended our Lawyer’s quarterly luncheon that is held to keep the Board abreast of the latest court decisions, State, and Federal regulations that effect employers.  He has been in the office this week dealing with a lot of correspondence, and talking with residents that have come in to discuss issues they have.

Selectman Burns thanked the Narragansett Number One Foundation for their generous gift of a $5000 Grant that was used along with $2475 that was raised at Town Meeting under Article 19 to purchase the shelving

Chief Mike Grovo provided statistics on the 367 calls for Service during the week of September 18-24th.  He also mentioned about the 3rd Drug Take Back day scheduled for October 29th from 10 AM to 2 PM.  Signs will be posted at Rite Aid and Hannaford.

Chief Grovo talked about the Maine Chiefs’ Road Show, a training program he recently attended that includes courses that each officer has to complete yearly to stay certified as a Police Officer.  One of the three courses just completed was the new law that prohibits texting while driving.  He said there are no exceptions and everybody will be looking for it.  Texting has recently caused serious accidents and fatalities and the Chief advised people not to text and drive.

Last week Chief Grovo also attended a training program at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy to be certified on the Urban Rifle Training.  As a Certified instructor through the Academy he instructs on firearms.  Our Police Department has the rifles.  Chief Grovo will be training our officers, and the rifles will be put in their vehicles should they need them.
