The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.

Selectmen Meeting Minutes July 6, 2011.
Approved 5-0.  
  • Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
5:00 The Selectmen had the Public Works Director in to go over a lot of things.  .  David Pinkham picked up the new 1 Ton truck that was authorized at Town Meeting and a new Dump/Plow truck was ordered.  That should be here sometime in September.  

The Board discussed some TRIO implementation issues, and the Treasurer was in to give the Board an update of the next steps to be done

The Selectmen also discussed their upcoming Workshop to be held next Tuesday.

  • Email from Denise Kolreg at Maine Municipal – Re:  Elected Officials Workshop Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
  • Emails from Peter Coughlan, Maine D.O.T. – Re:  URIP Funding.
  • Email from Marian Alexandre, So. Maine Regional Planning – Re:  2011-2012 Culvert Pipe Estimated Needs.
  • Email from Beth Townsend, Current Publishing Re:  The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is marking its 100th Anniversary.
  • Email from Don Marean from Hollis – Re:  Scheduling a meeting with the Board to discuss the walking bridge project.


  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Libby has been working with Sue Myers to get the valuations in for the Tax Commitment.
Selectman Harmon has been working on the Trio conversion with our Accounts Payable Clerk, Treasurer, and Town Clerk.  She has been busy with paperwork, handling phone calls, and taking care of mail.
Selectman Emery has been in the office half a dozen times to take care of paperwork and mail.  He has been talking to people about the conversion to our new Trash Hauler which he said is beginning to smooth out.
Selectman Senechal said the Bar Mills Fire Department is in the process of installing the Plymovent Exhaust System.  
On Tuesday she attended a wellness program dealing with heat exhaustion, stroke, and bee stings, and poison ivy.
Selectman Senechal provided information on Buxton Community Days that will be held July 22 -23.  There will be bands, a parade, food, a Road Race, fireworks, and other events.  If anyone has questions, please contact Tashia Pinkham at 929-3831.
Selectman Burns has been busy with phone calls, Email, TRIO, and handling day to day issues.  He said it is surprising how much goes on here every day.



  • Old Business
Selectman Burns read the Notice of Public Hearing on a Liquor License Application for Skip’s to be held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.



  • New Business
Selectman Harmon said she was approached by a member of the Buxton Center Baptist Church in regards to where the old Town Hall was situated.  That person asked if the Board had ever thought about selling or donating that land to the Church.  They would like to make improvements to their parking area.  

He Board will discuss this at their Workshop on Tuesday.



  • Executive Orders
E.O.111207012 – An order to approve a 1.5% settlement for 2011-2012 salary reopener of the 2010-2013 Police/Dispatch Collective Bargaining Agreement with an effective date of July 1, 2011.  Approved 5-0.

E.O.111207013 – An order to approve 6 hours of vacation time for Fred Farnham.  
Approved 5-0

  • Other Business
Starting the week of July 17, 2011, there will be a change in the trash pickup schedule.  Monday’s curbside trash pickup will be changed to Tuesdays.  Those who would normally put their trash out for pickup on Monday, July 18th, will put it out on Tuesday the 19th and every Tuesday thereafter.  Please call the Transfer Station at 929-3913 if you have any questions.

There will be a free supper featuring ham, roast pork, and casseroles at the e Buxton Community Food Coop, Saturday, July 16th from 4:30-6:00p.m.

There will be a Blood Dive at Buxton Town Hall Monday, August 1st, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Please call the American Red Cross @1-800-Red Cross to make an appointment.  All donors will receive a free Red Sox/Red Cross Tee Shirt and will have the chance to win two Red Sox Tickets and be honored on the field as the Blood Donor of the Game.
