The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.

Selectmen Meeting Minutes June 8, 2011.
Approved 5-0.

  • Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
The Selectmen had no one on the agenda but two residents came in.  One resident asked the Board how they go about accepting private roads and the other resident asked if he can participate the next time the Town puts fuel out for bid.

The Selectmen talked with our Treasurer in regards to memos she wants to distribute and the need for two payrolls the last week of the fiscal year because the first two days of July run in to that pay period.  They discussed having a VISA or MasterCard for Department heads.  The Town has a Discover card but it is not accepted everywhere and the Recreation Department especially runs into problems getting things they need.

The Selectmen talked about the election results and thanked all those who came out and voted.
  • Review of Correspondence
  • Email from John Myers, Town Clerk – Re:  Town & School Election Results for June 14, 2011.
Selectman Senechal read the results and reported that the 18.1% voter turnout was average for the June election in Buxton.  Selectman Harmon said Dennis Santolucito had the most write in votes for the Budget Committee but he will not be able to serve on the Committee.  The Selectmen received word that Mark Blier who got the next highest number of votes for the Budget Committee is willing to serve on the Committee.
  • Email from Marian Alexandre, So. ME. Regional Planning – Re:  Free Traffic Impact Study Workshop.
  • Email from Myranda McGowan, So. ME Regional Planning – Re:  2011 Active Community Conference.

  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Libby has been going over the Articles that will be presented Saturday, looking at how much and how it will be paid for.

Selectman Burns has been coming into the office every day handling mail and other things that come up.  He has been getting ready for Town Meeting and answering people’s questions.  He thanked those who took time to vote Tuesday and reminded residents that the Town will be changing who collects our roadside waste.  Starting July 5th BBI will be picking up our trash instead of Pine Tree.  The new trucks will be blue and white.

Selectman Emery asked residents not to get upset if the BBI trucks do not show up at the exact same time as Pine Tree did.  It will be slow until they get used to the roads and there may be a few glitches to work out.  If you have a problem, you can call the Transfer Station.  They will be grateful for the call if there is something out of the ordinary so they can get the problem fixed right away.

Selectman Senechal talked about the amount of mail the Selectmen have to keep up with.  She congratulated the two Selectmen who were re-elected and said the voters must think the Board is working well and when you have a good thing going, you do not change it.
Selectman Harmon talked about Election Day and how busy it always is.  She thanked everyone who came out to vote.  She also thanked voters for re-electing her and for the vote of confidence.  She talked about write in candidates, and Question 5 for the Hanson School that did not pass.  She has been dealing with day to day issues and keeping on top of our software conversion, making sure we have as few glitches as possible.
