The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

- Letter from David O. Cole, Town Manager Gorham – Re: Notification that the application for the Fire Station Construction Grant was not successful.

- Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Libby reported that he has had inquiries about property tax he has been handling.
Selectman Collomy reported that he helped the Town Mechanic replace a truck body.
Selectman Burns reported that the Selectmen held a Workshop on Tuesday, October 6 to discuss Carry Forward items. Selectman Burns also stated that he had viewed the grinding work being done on the Public Works Garage. He said it should work.
Selectman Harmon stated that the Workshop was held and the Selectmen are looking at reconciliation tentatively October 29 or November 4. The Selectmen are also looking at a generator purchase for the gas pumps in case the power goes out.

There is an issue with water leaking through the ceiling in the front office when there is heavy rain and wind. Several alternatives are being explored and money will be carried forward in the budget to look at a solution.

Absentee ballot applications are available at the Town Hall. Absentee ballots can be picked up at the Town Hall or phone or on line at the following address: http://www.maine.gov:80/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl. Absentee ballots can also be mailed out at the request of the voter by calling the Town Clerk’s Office at 929-6171.
York County Community Action is taking applications for fuel assistance through the LiHeap Program. Applicants must pay their own heat and not live in subsidized housing. To make an appointment, call 1-800-965-5762.
The Visiting Nurses will be hosting a Flu Shot Clinic at the Buxton Town Office on Friday, October 23 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. The cost is $30.
The Town Office is closed on Monday, October 12th for the Holiday. Please remember that the Transfer Station is closed on Tuesday, October 13 and will be open to the public on Thursday, October 15 at 8:00 a.m.
Selectman Burns read the 7 questions that are on the ballot for the November 3 election. He reminded everyone that the ballots can be picked up at the Town Office and voting is easy with an Absentee Ballot.
- Public Comments and Questions
Robert Elwell asked the Board for their opinions on the other referendum questions. Selectman Burns stated that it is inappropriate for the Board to give opinions; it is up to the voters. The Selectmen have provided information for the question that affects the Town’s revenue. Robert stated that he was pleased to see the information and that the Board took a stand on the issue.
Robert asked if the question on the School Consolidation would affect the Town. Selectman Harmon stated that it would not affect the Town as the current District was already comprised of many towns. The only change may be the time of the voting on the school budget.
Robert questioned if the Gorham/Buxton Fire Station issue is now dead or what will happen. The Station issue is done for now. One of the issues at the Chicopee Station is the building is not big enough to house the new equipment.
Robert asked Selectman Libby if the Town valuation was affecting bank valuations of properties that were for sale. Selectman Libby stated that the foreclosure sales are not what property is assessed at.
Robert Elwell questioned the Rescue Subscription program and wanted to know if the rates had been reviewed as the program was to be reviewed after it had been in operation for a few years. Selectman Harmon stated that it had not been looked at and it should be.
Robert questioned the cost of the flu shots at $30 when Portland was giving shots for $10. He wanted to know why. No one had an answer.
