Minutes for June 25, 2008 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members Present:  Jean C. Harmon, Robert C. Libby, Daniel T. Collomy and Linda W. Pulsoni.  Clifford L. Emery was absent.

Others Present:  Keith Emery, Olive Collomy, Jack Hanna, Larry Miller and Peter Pinkham.

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

4.      Review of Correspondence.

5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectman Libby reported that he has been handling routine business, reviewing resumes for the Fire Chie and Recreation Director.

Selectman Collomy reported that work has started on the Korean War Memorial.  The grading is done and Dearborn Bros. is getting ready to put the granite curbing down.

Selectman Pulsoni stated that the Selectmen had a workshop on Monday night to review the resumes for the Fire Chief and the Recreation Director.  Interviewing for the Fire Chief position will take place on Thursday, June 26.  Recreation Director interviews will be held Tuesday,
July 1.

Selectman Harmon reported that a resident on Waterman Road wants to thank the Public Works crew for the nice job on Spruce Swamp Road.  Selectman Harmon will be checking to see when the Route 112 rebuild will begin.

Dave Anderson reported on Town Farm Park.  The Narragansett Foundation gave a grant for the construction of a storage building at the Park.  The facility will be started this summer and should be finished this fall.  Long range plans call for increased parking, electricity and water.

7.      New Business.
        
Selectman Libby reported that the WWI Monument in Bar Bills has been refurbished.  New loam and grass has been planted.  The area is maintained by Dave Dunn and the Selectmen thanked him for taking care of the area.




8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.070806024 – An order to award the paving bid for 2008 to Dayton Sand & Gravel Co., Inc. for a price of $58.79 per ton.  Approved 4-0-1.


9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

E.O.070806025 – An order to award the construction of the storage shed at Town Farm Park to Ben and Andy Libby for a price of $32,681.

E.O.070806026 – An order to renew the Town of Buxton’s property and casualty insurance with Maine Municipal Association for the July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009 fiscal year at a cost of $59,439.




10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

E.O.070806022 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Accounts Payable Warrant #52-08.  Approved 4-0-1.

Selectmen’s Meeting Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.



12.     Other Business.

The Municipal Office will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2008







13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Keith Emery stated that many people did not show up at Town Meeting as they had other commitments.

Keith wanted to know what was going to happen to the Police vehicle that will be disposed of once the new vehicle is purchased for the Police Department.

Keith also wanted to know when the road work was going to be done at the intersection of Route 112 and Turkey Lane.
