Minutes for May 14, 2008 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members Present:  Jean C. Harmon, Clifford L. Emery, Daniel T. Collomy and Linda W. Pulsoni.

Others Present:  Peter Pinkham, Olive Collomy, Jack Hanna, Keith Emery, Dave Harmon, Larry Miller and Phil Thompson.

Business Meeting Agenda

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes May 7, 2008.  Approved 4-0-1.

3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

4.      Review of Correspondence.

·       Flyer from So. Maine Regional Planning Commission – Re:  Annual Meeting June 25th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Sanford Country Club
·       Letter from Mimi Mills, Director, York County United Way – Re:  Southern Maine Community Organizations Active in Disaster (SMCOAD) is meeting Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Way in Kennebunk


5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectman Collomy reported that the New Town Garage Committee, the Selectmen, two representatives from Deluca & Hoffman and the two lowest bidders for the Garage will be meeting on Friday, May 16.

Selectman Pulsoni stated that the Selectmen held an Executive Session on Monday night, May 12.

Selectman Emery reported that he attended a Cable TV refranchising meeting.  The Franchise Agreement has been extended for six months as they are waiting for the Model Franchise Agreement that the State is preparing.

Selectmen Emery and Harmon attended the School District Budget Validation Public Meeting on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Middle School.  It was an informative meeting.




6.      Old Business.

Selectman Pulsoni asked if the oldest resident in Town had been located.  Selectman Collomy reported that they are following up on two residents to see if they still live in Town.




7.      New Business.
        
Selectman Harmon reported that a graveside service for Dave Wiggin will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday (May 16) at the So. Buxton Cemetery.



8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.070805009 – An order to allow Brenda Brown to Carry Forward 2.67 hours to be used before May 30, 2008.  Approved 4-0-1.



9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

E.O.070805010 – An order to accept the resignation of Larry Straffin effective May 14, 2008.  Approved 4-0-1.



10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

E.O.070805007 -- An order approving expenditures as documented in Accounts Payable Warrant #46-08.  Approved 4-0-1.

11.     Next Meeting of the Board.

13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Olive Collomy reported that the Buxton Community Food Co-Op was in need of donations to cover the cost of insurance for the use of the building for the public to come to the Co-Op.

Larry Miller asked the Selectmen if they had made any progress on the Recreation Department issues.  Selectman Harmon stated no.

Larry also asked about the management of the Fire Department as a result of the resignation of the Fire Chief.  Selectman Emery reported that the Department has full coverage and a full Department Meeting will take place on Thursday night.
