Minutes for February 20, 2008 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members Present:  Jean C. Harmon, Clifford L. Emery, Robert C. Libby, Daniel T. Collomy and Linda W. Pulsoni.

Others Present:  Peter Pinkham, Peter Burns, Don Marean, Ruth Richardson, Joann Groder, Kendra Gorham, Marley Harmon, Sara Gorham, Carolyn Moore, Bob Lowell, Keith Emery, Leo Groder, Kathy Brackett and Jack Hanna.

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes February 6, 2008.  Approved 4-0-1.  (Selectman Emery was absent at this Meeting)


3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

4.      Review of Correspondence.

5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

The Selectmen are working on next year’s budget.  The last two Tuesday evenings the Selectmen have met with Department Heads to review budgets.

Selectman Harmon has been speaking with the DOT regarding the rebuild of Route 112 from Saco to Buxton.  The road is scheduled for work for the 2009 – 10 season depending on funding.



6.      Old Business.

Selectman Collomy has been researching the oldest resident for the Boston Post Cane.  Selectman Collomy will be meeting with Joan Weeman the first of next week to confirm who may be the oldest resident.


7.      New Business.

8.      Executive Orders.

E.O.070802020 – An order to approve John Myer’s attendance to a MTCCA Retreat.
Approved 5-0.

E.O.070802021 – An order to allow John Myers to Carry Forward 12.25 hours of vacation time.
Approved 5-0.

E.O.070802022 – An order to allow Crystal Stack to use a red light in accordance with Title 29-A, Section 2054, of the M.R.S.A. as a member of the Buxton Fire & Rescue.  Approved 5-0.

9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

12.     Other Business.

The Notice of Opportunity of Redemption on the 2006 foreclosed properties is being mailed February 21.  This means that if you receive one of these letters, you have 60 days to re-acquire your property.  If you do not re-acquire your property, it will be sold.

        
        Representative Marean presented three Legislative Sentiments for outstanding Community Service to the following:  Marley Harmon, Kendra Gorham and Sara Gorham.  The three young ladies have been serving their community the last few years working at the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by the Pythian Sisters.

Carolyn Moore, Most Excellent Chief, of the Pythian Sisters organization presented a Community Service award to Lindsey Somerset for her work at the Pythian Sisters Thanksgiving Dinner.

Carolyn Moore also presented an Outstanding Community Service award to Joann Groder for her service coordinating the Buxton Community Food Co-Op.


13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Keith Emery questioned the Town of Hollis providing sand to the schools in Hollis.  Selectman Emery stated the situation was being reviewed and other Towns are helping.


14.     Adjournment.

Motion made and seconded to adjourn the Meeting at 7:30 p.m.  Approved 5-0.
